AI is here
Instead of writing code directly, software engineers are increasingly just talking through the work with AI agents. That shift seems like it happened insanely fast. In some ways, maybe that is a better future. But we still ought to ask what it means when complex knowledge work, the kind that once commanded a high salary, starts to become commoditized. Are we really comfortable with that? What are the risks? And what happens when we retool, retrain, or decide we do not want to do this work anymore?
