As election day draws near I wonder if we really can win.  I have a growing sense of pessimism. Maybe it is because I have seen so many losses by my party in my short era of being politically active, or maybe it is that old notion that it is just too good to be true.  As I look at the very recent history of our nation it seems very likely that the Democrats will win; the wind is at their back.  But the democrats face a very powerful opponent, while weak, should not be underestimated.  I sure hope that the Democrats win on November 7th.  I feel as if a democratic victory is the most healthy move our republic can make to preserve Democracy and Freedom.  However, I feel like it is just…. sometimes just a dream.

I found this article in today’s Salt Lake tribune.  I thought it was very interesting how Dan Jones (my former professor ) noted that the south west portion of Salt Lake County has a growing group of individuals who are likely to vote Democratic.  This warms my heart in so many ways because it is the place that I call home.  While the old machine politician Chris Cannon will likely win, I really enjoy what Christian Burridge is doing in his race.  He is a solid moderate Democrat who is like the members of his district. Maybe it is time for me to burn a Chris Cannon sign and post it on YouTube!

With America in their hands who needs to worry?

Sorry for the lack of blog updates.  I finally uploaded the reunion video here.

5 Years ago I graduated from High School.  Last night I attended my 5 year re-union.  One thought that I continued to have throughout the evening was that I was in the twilight zone.  It felt so strange to see so many faces in the same room that I used to associate with every day.  In many ways I felt a sense of closure… a strange sense because it came where I didn’t feel like I was needing a sense of closure.  I guess the sense came in knowing that so many of my peers are experiencing the same things that I am: growing up, finishing school, taking care of a family.  I had a surprisingly good time, and I even made a video for the event.

KSL has a new “project” running from 7:00 PM to 12:00 PM on weeknights, titled the “Night Side Project.”  According to KSL this radio program is meant to appeal to 20 somethings, and cover things from their perspective.  I have listened a couple times and I am lukewarm.  It is clear that there are the conservative undertones that define KSL, but one can feel that there is an overt effort to make it appear more “hip.”  As a news junkie and a large consumer of radio I will give it a spin, but don’t expect the praises to come without merit.  It is no NPR.

I am performing some unscheduled maintenance at work and I have a couple minutes of downtime.  I just checked my watch and realized that the Israel / Lebanon war cease fire is in 25, make that 24 minutes away.  I really hope that this tinderbox of a war comes to an end in 23 minutes.  In 6 minutes I have to get back to work.
I really need to buy some more time.
I am currently listening to my iPod which is playing With Teeth.  This is the first time that I have attempted to play the album the whole way through.
3 Minutes left until I can get back to work, 3 more minutes of imaging. One minute.  Eighteen minutes until the hopeful end of the war.

Let’s pray it ends.
