So called President Trump

Trump is the President of the United States, and he has been so for over a month. What we all thought was completely unbelievable, what could never happen, is now our reality. Now that we’ve seen him as president we know that campaign Trump will not transition to a more mature and sober President Trump.

The last month feels like it has a choreographed attempt to overwhelm the American Public with absurd behavior, so much so that we will lulled into a sense of apathy when Trump does outrageous things.

To review just a handful of crazy things implemented by our Dear Leader:

  • The Travel Ban, hastily implemented, ultimately blocked by a court.
  • Communication with allies, terrible diplomacy, super sad.
  • New tweets that come early in the morning, with continuous insults and bluster.
  • An all-out assault on the media – claims that the media are an enemy of the American public.

I will not be silent, I will not support him, and I will not be driven to fatigue. I plan on attending every town hall I can, contacting my representatives. I plan on protesting, because if there is one thing that gets under this man’s skin it is seeing a mass assembly of people opposing him.

At least one entry in 2016

I’ve kept this blog going for years but have really neglected it for a while. I don’t think I really intend on updating regularly, but for consistency sake and for good old tradition sake I’m posting something right now.

The last post noted I bought Star Wars tickets to the Force Awakens. Well a year has passed and I have already seen the next Star Wars move, Rogue One. Perhaps the best of the season.

I should mention that I’m extremely upset, and concerned about the future with the recent election of Donald Trump. Never in a million years would I have thought he would be president, and especially becoming it has he did, by trumping up racism. If I write here going forward, I may use it as a nice way to vent about what is going on with the presidency of the United States, and my general thoughts on the state of the republic.

That’s all for now.

Star Wars Tickets

Last night Miles couldn’t get over telling me how awesome the new Start Wars trailer was.

So I sized the opportunity to buy tickets early, as we are obviously going as soon as possible given Miles’ complete requirement that he experience everything the Star Wars Universe has to offer.  I bought tickets from fandango.com, but unfortunately it took me an hour to verify that my transaction had actually been processed because all their page would offer is a 503 server unavailable error.  I’m thrilled our transaction actually worked, and am excited to take Miles to his first Star Wars premier a day early.  Should be good times.

Another post

Wow I have let this blog languish for a very long time. I’m going back to my old tricks and I’m going to have a wonderful promise of keeping this up to date. I’m 90 percent sure I will not live up to this promise, but we all have dreams.

Pre Easter Awesome

Today the kids and I went to two egg hunts: the glorious Spanish Fork City hunt at the ballpark, and then the East Meadows Ward hunt.  After the hunt I met Mandy and we went to the Salt Lake comic con.  We didn’t really do much but we did have fun.

Here is my end of day selffie.

2014

So last year I came up with this idea of filming 5 seconds a day. It didn’t really take off. I neglected it after 2 weeks. I would like to try again in 2014. Also to up the ante I think I’m going to do a one selfie per day pic of myself. Why you ask? Because I’m beautiful.

All of this and more coming in 2014. Stay tuned.

Five Seconds A Day

I’m going to start a project where I record myself for 5 seconds each day and compile it into a continuous video.  I’ve seen a couple folks do this, and I was inspired.  I’m going to set a couple ground rules for my recordings here:

1.  The recording must take place in the particular day, any time in the 24 hour period.

2. The recording does not need to include myself, but I do need to make the recording, or be somehow directly involved in the recording.

3. I must appear on the recording at least twice a week.

4. I must record at least 5 seconds.  Recording more is not an issue, however I am going to expect to edit each clip to 5 seconds.

5. I may change my edits to less than 5 seconds.

6. I will make all raw video available publicly.

7. As a side project I will work to automate the automatic compilation of the video.

8. I can change any rule, except I need to record every day.

I will consider 1/21/2013 my start day as I have video of myself for that day, plus it aligns nicely with the beginning of Obama’s second term.  Raw video will be saved here: http://vday.ximz.com I’ll start combining the video in the coming days when I’m ready to get fancy with my scripting fu.

I’m really looking forward to working on this project.

2013

We’ve made it to 2013. This is the year where I turn 30, which I’m very lukewarm about. It could be worse, it could be 40.
